- Dear Arcade Fire: Your anti-scalping ticket system can suck it. It's not doing anyone any favors. Scalpers are selling tickets now for $300 still for your orpheum show, only they are like in the middle of the theater. How does that help anyone? Who is winning here? You get to say "we are cool and we don't charge a lot for our shows," and scalpers (decent, working-class people, but I digress) get the shove off, but does either of these items help me, the concert goer? No. All tickets still are impossible to get because 50 million people try and buy them at the same time, so it's basically just luck, as in a lottery. And I am all ears in hearing how you think that a lottery is more fair than letting the people who really want to go to your show pay a little more to go. Anyway, after reading the ridiculous posts in New York from people who were basically reaming the public to be their +1 (there was more than one "will trade my +1 ticket for sex" post and I am not kidding, though of course they might be), I fail to see how this is more fair to anyone. Not only that, I'm fuckin a BUSY MAN and have more important things to do than spend an hour banging my head against the Ticketmaster site for a 1% chance to get tickets (though if I was a TRUE RICH ASSHOLE, who I assume by this whole affair you loathe for their capitalist ways, I'd get my assitant to do it). So I hate you. If you really cared about anything, you'd auction all the tickets off on eBay, after a fan club pre-sale at a low rate, and take all the extra money you're so worried about not appearing to earn and donate it to charity. And then I would feel totally guiltless in paying $200 each for a ticket, which I am probably going to do anyway, doing no one (except our dear working class friend the scalper) any good. And by the way your new album's not that awesome and I hear your live shows are only so so right now. Maybe *that's* why you don't want anyone paying too much for it? You know it's not worth it? I know, I know, your Coachella show was one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I am going to see you again there this year. But seriously - if you're awesome again, I will be pissed because it will cost me more to go to your stupid Orpheum show than it cost to go to Coachella. By the way everyone whose grandmother dies that week or is sick and can't go is going to be pissed because they won't be able to sell their tickets and it will be your fault. Awesome.
- I am listening to my awesome new NICK CAVE 2xCD + 2xDVD The Abbatoir Blues Tour box set and it is way more awesome than you, the arcade fire. So there.
- Last call for coachella roommates!
