Wow, um... this is awesome.

I think PItchfork just went a long way towards making this generation's MTV.

Now if only it had podcasts and I could get it on my iPhone.

Lightweight, but really well done. And beautiful video resolution.

Nice. So, should we all get back on board with Pitchfork now? I think they're making a good case.

Yeah, at least until all the videos turn into vidoe blog posts of things like "Grizly Bear kicks off tour" and "Dan deacon ends tour."

The quality on that is awesome. Now all they have to do is show me some music I like. Maybe some Sinatra, a little Coltrane...then we're in business.

So now I know why they were hiring all those Drupal developers....

Nice! They posted the Pixies documentary (all of it, not just a teaser) filmed during their reunion tour.

Interesting: at one point, Frank Black/Charles/Francis says that their residuals have been shrinking to nothing because of the rise of mp3s (nobody wants to pay for music any more). That's why a lot of creaky old bands get back together and tour; not because they're coasting on their name, but because it's the only way to get income.

I assumed it was to pay college tuition (and it is, kinda), but I didn't realize that file-sharing had such a direct effect. Interesting to see that it's hitting some classic, worthy bands very hard.

That's kinda a red herring though - artists love to do that. File sharing wouldn't impact cover royalties, radio, or licensing at all.

So the loss of potential album sales is minimal? How do you figure? For a band like The Pixies, I can see a lot of second-generation fans buying all their albums after hearing about them, given that they're so influential... except now the fans can get it all for free.
