Year in Review: Gigs
As with last year, I think it's smooth sailing the rest of the year for gigs - no plans, so I think I can go ahead and post this.

The total - 281 performances, up from 246 last year, or one every 1.3 days. The difference in numbers is pretty much directly attributable to one additional large festival: Iceland Airwaves, bring the festival total to four: SXSW, Coachella, Iceland Airwaves, All Tomorrow's Parties.

Best performance of the year? Daft Punk, for the second year in a row, followed by Spiritualized Acoustic Mainlines
Non-local band seen the most this year? Thurston Moore in 5 different configurations: twice solo, once as Thurston Moore Soundz, once with Sonic Youth and once with Glenn Branca
Bands I missed that I'm upset about: Grinderman et al at the April ATP, Stars, the Shellac residency
Loudest band: Sunnn O))) + A Place to Bury Strangers (tie)
Worst band: Tiesto

Hi there! It's Elizabeth. :)

We were probably at the same Sunn O))) show.

I'm pissed about missing Shellac as well.

Oh, hello! Happy Christmas Sir.

I try and see shellac once a year, but considering they only ever play like 5 shows it's kinda hard.

I feel like those few snippets of Rage Against the Machine win for worst band this year. And they double suck for making us have to leave in the middle of the Lemonheads to escape the scary crowds.

Yeah, more and more I'm thinking you're right. Especially that part where he said our president should be shot or something. God, how did he get away with that?

I believe it was "hung, then shot"

It was pretty bad. I'm all for free speech, but where's the secret service when you need 'em??

Soooo, for Cassette have you seen them only once as Cassette, or were they Fantasy Mirror by then?
billetdoux From: billetdoux Date: December 26th, 2007 02:15 am (UTC) (Link)
Um... I think they were no longer Cassette? But i don't remember what they were called. I've lost track.
